The Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation has published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) the regulations and the first calls for applications for the Digital Generation for SMEs program. This aid package, totaling up to €356 million, is aimed at training SMEs and entrepreneurs in digitalization.
We inform you that the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation has published in the Official State Gazette (BOE) on Saturday, November 12, the regulatory bases and the first calls for applications for the Digital Generation for SMEs program.
These are the following provisions:
- Order ICT/1081/2022, of November 7, establishing the regulatory bases for the granting of subsidies for the Program "Digital Generation SMEs: people of management teams and qualification of people employed in SMEs", within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, and proceeding to its call in the year 2022.
- Order ICT/1080/2022, of November 7, establishing the regulatory bases for the granting of subsidies of the Program «Digital Generation: Agents of Change», and proceeding to its call in the year 2022, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
This is a grant package of up to €356 million until 2025, designed to help self-employed individuals and their employees acquire digital skills for their businesses. Each participant will receive €2,600.
This plan runs parallel to the Digital Kit. In this case, the subsidies will not be used to facilitate access to cybersecurity tools, processes, or marketing; instead, the entire budget will be allocated to training to improve the digital skills of self-employed individuals with SMEs and their employees.
Objectives of the aid
The aim is to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to:
- To drive the digital transformation of your companies.
- Reducing the digital divide due to gender issues.
- To provide the business sector with talent.
- To demonstrate how technology impacts business, allowing you to put the customer at the center and provide solutions to their needs.
- To provide future "agents of change" with the knowledge and skills necessary for their entry or retraining in the labor market.
Recipients of the aid
Training companies will be the beneficiaries of the aid provided under the Digital Generation for SMEs plan. The EOI Foundation, attached to the Ministry of Industry, will be responsible for selecting these companies and awarding a "training voucher" to self-employed individuals, managers, and employees of SMEs who apply. This voucher will serve to compensate accredited training organizations.
This first call for applications is only open to SMEs with ten or more employees. However, calls for applications for companies with nine or fewer employees will be published in the following months.
The EOI will be responsible for managing the planned investment. Soon, this entity will open a pre-registration period for SMEs, managers, employees, and the unemployed, who will receive a "training voucher" to compensate the training providers authorized by the Administration. The system will operate very similarly to that established for the digital training kit.
The EOI is a state public sector foundation attached to the General Secretariat of Industry and Small and Medium Enterprises of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism (MINCOTUR), which is dedicated to training professionals, producing and disseminating knowledge and offering valuable services to companies, entrepreneurs and administrations, in the values of an open, social, green and digital economy.
Amount of aid
As specified in the regulations, the financial contribution per student will amount to 2,600 euros. Furthermore, the training programs included in the plan will be completely free for participants.
If you are a training entity, what are the deadlines for submitting the application?
Applications to become a Training Entity can now be submitted through the EOI electronic headquarters and the deadline to register as a trainer will remain open for one month, until December 12th.
And what is the deadline for companies with more than 10 employees?
Following the publication of the selected training entities, self-employed individuals, managers and employees of SMEs will be able to request access to training vouchers starting in March 2023.
