The Administration has implemented electronic communication that is not always practical for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Order PRE/878/2010 established the so-called "Authorized Electronic Address" (DEH). Through this procedure, the various Public Administrations can notify their administrative acts electronically, via the taxpayer's electronic mailbox.

This notification system has been designated as the only possible one for the following communications:

– the notifications that the Treasury issues to legal entities.

– the notifications that Social Security makes to companies that have at least one employee.

The mandatory inclusion in this system in recent years has required the user to have and install a Digital Certificate issued in their name, or in the name of the company they represent.

In practice, this procedure has proven to be very practical and economical for the Administration, but frequently a source of problems for SMEs and the self-employed. They must be vigilant in receiving their notifications, which are considered delivered ten calendar days after they are made available, ensuring they do not lose their certificate or that it does not expire, and maintaining the required technical specifications on their computer equipment.
