We are sharing the results of Resolution 1 of February 2017 regarding the PREPARA program.
The Ministry of Employment has approved a six-month extension of the PREPARA Plan , until August 15, 2017. These extensions of PREPARA occur automatically every six months until the unemployment rate (measured by the Labor Force Survey) falls below 18%. The latest Labor Force Survey data placed unemployment at 18.6%.
Based on the above, the provisions of the Resolution will apply to unemployed persons due to the termination of their employment relationship and registered as job seekers in the Employment Offices who, within the period between February 16 and August 15, 2017, both inclusive, exhaust the contributory unemployment benefit and are not entitled to any of the unemployment subsidies established in the LGSS, or have exhausted any of these subsidies, including their extensions, and meet the rest of the requirements established in Royal Decree-Law 23/2012, of August 24.
What is the PREPARA plan?
The Prepara Plan is a one-time extraordinary benefit of €400 (or €450 if you have family responsibilities), which can only be received once, for a maximum of six months. One of its requirements is that you must apply for this benefit within two months of exhausting your unemployment subsidy or benefit.
Therefore, when the Government announces the extensions of this plan, what it is really approving is that the Plan will continue to be in force over time so that those who have never received this aid until now can apply for it, but it is not extended for those who have already applied for it.
Conclusion
The Resolution of February 1, 2017, effective from the 16th of the same month, extends until August 15, 2017 the validity of that of August 1, 2013, which determines the form and deadlines for submitting applications and processing the financial support aid included in the PREPARA program, and includes the new application form for financial support aid.
