If you have a recognized disability with a degree equal to or greater than 65%, you may be interested to know that you could retire before the ordinary retirement age and receive 100% of the contributory retirement pension.

The ordinary age required for access to the retirement pension will be reduced by a period equivalent to that resulting from applying the coefficients indicated to the time actually worked, provided that the following degrees of disability are accredited during the periods of work performed:

• The coefficient of 0.25, in cases where the worker has accredited a degree of disability equal to or greater than 65%.
• The coefficient of 0.50, in cases where the worker has accredited a degree of disability equal to or greater than 65% and proves the need for the assistance of another person to carry out the essential acts of ordinary life.

Since January 1, 2008, the application of the corresponding age reduction coefficients cannot result in the interested party being able to access the retirement pension before the age of 52 in the general scheme, since other schemes establish different retirement ages such as the Mining and Coal Scheme.

It is also important to mention that the period by which the worker's retirement age is reduced will be counted as a contribution period for the sole purpose of determining the percentage for calculating the retirement pension amount. However, you should be aware that to access this contributory retirement option, you must meet the requirements for standard retirement (contributions and qualifying event).
